Prof. Dr. Fouad Khoury is internationally recognized as one of the pioneers in oral surgery and bone regeneration. Born in Lebanon, he completed his DMD at St. Joseph University in Beirut in 1978, followed by specialization in Oral Surgery at the Universities of Freiburg and Münster in Germany (1978–1984). His academic path continued at the University of Münster, where he served as Assistant and later Associate Professor (1986–1994), received his habilitation in 1988, and was appointed Professor in 1994.
He is the founder and Director of the renowned Privatklinik Schloss Schellenstein in Olsberg, Germany, and continues to hold a professorship at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Münster. Prof. Khoury also serves as a visiting professor at several universities worldwide.
Prof. Khoury has made profound contributions to oral surgery, particularly in bone augmentation techniques, and has received multiple prestigious awards, including the Pioneers in Dentistry Award (AUB, 2016) and the W. Laney Award from the American Academy of Osseointegration (2017). He is the author and editor of four internationally acclaimed textbooks—Bone Augmentation in Oral Implantology, Sinus Floor Elevation, Oral Implantology: Basics – Planning – Surgery – Prosthetics, and Soft Tissue Management—translated into more than ten languages. He has over 140 scientific publications and has delivered more than 1,000 lectures and courses worldwide. He also serves as Associate Editor of The International Journal of Oral Implantology.
Formerly the President of the Oral and Jaw Surgery Society (AGOKI) of the German Dental Association (until May 2023), he is currently the Chairman of the German Examination Committee for Oral Surgery.
As a keynote speaker in the Master of Personalized Oral Implantology and Periodontology (MPOIP) at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Prof. Khoury brings his unmatched expertise to guide students through the basics of augmentative procedures, including the bone core technique, split bone block technique, bone block harvesting, and stabilization using microscrews. He will also lead sessions on soft tissue management, covering vestibuloplasty, roll flap, second stage techniques, and apical reposition flap procedures.
His contributions will include live surgeries, where participants will witness advanced regenerative techniques and personalized approaches in clinical implantology, reflecting the very essence of the MPOIP program: bridging science with surgical precision.
